Receipt Printer Pairing Errors (POS)
This session provides essential guidance on troubleshooting common printer pairing errors within the CityHive POS system. We will cover how to identify these issues and the steps to resolve them efficiently with remote support.
1. Overview of Printer Pairing
When a new sale begins at a register, CityHive automatically attempts to pair with the station's receipt printer. If this pairing doesn't complete successfully, the register won't print receipts. We'll outline the three key stages: the initial pairing prompt, recognizing a pairing error, and how to engage remote support for a swift resolution.
2. The Pairing Prompt Appears
The printer pairing prompt typically appears when you initiate a transaction. It also shows up if you click 'Print' on an active or completed sale from the left sidebar. A browser dialog will display, indicating that 'merchants.cityhive.net wants to connect' and listing the detected printer, such as 'TM-T20IV-SP'. To proceed, simply select 'Connect' to pair the printer with your station.
3. Pairing Fails: The Error Banner
If the printer pairing is unsuccessful, the system will revert to the Order Summary screen. A prominent red banner will appear at the top of the Order Summary, clearly stating 'Failed to pair printer'. While you can still ring up items and process sales, it's important to note that receipts will not print until the printer is successfully re-paired.
4. Resolve It With Remote Support
To resolve a printer pairing error, remote support is available. First, download TeamViewer using the link provided by CityHive Support, which allows a technician to view your station remotely. Once installed, TeamViewer generates a unique session ID; share this ID with CityHive Support. Finally, a support technician will connect remotely and re-pair the printer to your station, restoring full functionality. Full instructions and the TeamViewer download link are available at support.cityhive.net.
5. Recap: Printer Pairing Errors
In summary, a pairing prompt appears when starting a transaction or printing a sale. If pairing fails, a red error banner indicates receipts won't print. Remote support can resolve this by using TeamViewer to reconnect the printer.
